The Prime Minister said that 10 crore families will benefit from the Public Health Scheme (PM-JAY) with 5 lakh health insurance. Initially, poor families are being given the benefit of this scheme.

Later, people of lower middle class, middle class and upper middle class will also be brought under the purview of PM-JAY. Let's know the essentials of PM-JAY.

Who can avail PM-JAY?

The purpose of PM-JAY is to provide health insurance benefits to the identified category of poor, disadvantaged rural families and families of urban workers. Therefore, based on the 2011 census, 8.03 rural households and 2.33 crore urban households will fall under the scheme.

Initially, about 50 million people will be able to avail PM-JAY. The number and age limit of members in the family has not been set up to avail the Public Health Scheme. The scheme will be cashless and paperless. Treatment can be done in government and private hospitals.

HOw much will PM-JAY cost?

The PM-JAY scheme will cost around Rs 5,000 crore this year. Next year, it will cost Rs 10,000 crore. About 8 crore people are expected to benefit from this scheme this year.

The target is to bring 10 million people under PM-JAY from next financial year.

10,000 people will get jobs through Ayushman Bharat Yojana (ABY)

From the expenditure of Rs 5,000 crore on PM-JAY in the first year, the central government will carry a burden of about Rs 3,000 crore. This amount will increase to Rs 7,000 crore in the next financial year. The National Health Insurance Scheme (RSBY) implemented by the UPA government in 2008 has been merged with Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

Will Modi get PM-JAY benefit?

If the scheme is implemented properly, a large number of people can give PM-JAY credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government too expects a lot from PM-JAY. That is why the central government had instructed its ministers to be present at the launch of the scheme in their respective states.

At a time when the cost of treatment in private hospitals is increasing rapidly, PM-JAY can be very helpful for the poor.

How will the PM-JAY scheme be implemented?

The government has strongly promoted PM-JAY. All states have been asked to construct kiosks in the hospitals included in the list of plans. Banners of this scheme will appear in these hospitals.

Health friends in hospitals will play a significant role in implementing PM-JAY. They will be given separate uniforms. They will provide all kinds of assistance to the people involved in PM-JAY.
